The determination of the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) in water is an important task for many governmental and industrial laboratories. Currently, most methods use extraction followed by a GC analysis.
These methods are not only time consuming, but require trained personnel for the handling of the GC (gas chromatograph) and the interpretation of the data.
For routine purpose, it is sufficient to verify the presence or the absence of volatile compounds or even to determine an acceptable limit value. Only when this limit has been exceeded is there a need for more information.
